3. What documents are required?

  • Proof that you reside in Riverside County.

  • A photo ID or driver’s license for the applicant and any spouse or domestic partner living in the household.

  • The primary applicant’s Social Security card.

  • Birth certificates for every household member, including all adults and children.

  • Documents showing the need for assistance, such as an eviction notice, a notice to pay rent or quit, or a utility shutoff notice.

    • Please note: An eviction notice or notice to pay rent or quit must include your name, address, total amount due, a month-by-month breakdown, any late fees, and the number of bedrooms in the property.

4. What are the steps to the application process?

Answer: Application Process

Stage 1: Prequalification and Application
Applicants who meet the prequalification requirements will receive an email inviting them to complete the formal application. After the application and all required documents are submitted, the intake team will review the household’s need, gross income, and—when rental assistance is requested—the property’s Fair Market Rent.

  1. The application will be denied if required documents are missing, the household exceeds gross-income limits, or the home’s rent exceeds the HUD Fair Market Rent limit for Riverside County.

Stage 2: Assessment and Referrals
Applicants who meet the Stage 1 requirements will meet with a social worker for an assessment and referrals. After successfully completing Stages 1 and 2, the applicant will be approved for assistance and assigned a case worker.

Stage 3: Case Management and Payment Processing

The assigned case worker will contact the applicant to arrange in-person signing of the application and supporting documents. The case will then be forwarded to the fiscal department for payment disbursement.

Important Response Deadline
Applicants must respond to requests within 24 hours. Applications may be denied if the applicant does not respond within that period because funding is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The application process may take 7–10 business days.

5. How will I know if I have been approved?

Answer: You will receive your approval decision by email.

6. What happens after I am approved?

Answer: A case worker will be assigned to your case and will keep you informed about payments issued on your behalf.

7. Is there a waiting list for services?

Answer: No. Assistance is provided on a first-come, first-served basis while funding is available.

ELIGIBILITY QUESTIONS

8. Who is eligible for services?

Answer: Eligibility depends on program requirements, funding guidelines, household needs, and available resources.

9. What factors are considered when determining eligibility?

Answer: Factors may include Riverside County residency, gross income, household size, living situation, and any program-specific requirements.

10. Do I need to provide proof of income?

Answer: Yes. Submit proof of all income received during the two most recent complete months.

11. Can I receive services if I am employed?

12. If I was previously denied, can I reapply?
